In the time of Jesus, Galilee was not a collection of small villages. If you were a Jew, then you were in the minority, and the men had to marry by 18. If you were a child, then you had no power, and you were taught by slaves. With money, if you were poor you were in the majority, you were hungry, and you could not read. With housing they were not private, they were one room, and they had terrible sewage. There were also heralds, slavery, and diluted wine.
